【問題】長文読解問題（高校入試対策英語）

次の英文を読んで、下の問いに答えよ。

On 24th of December, my winter vacation began. I visited my grandmother named Yoshie on this day. The first thing I saw when I arrived at her house was a big bag of potatoes at the front door. My grandmother came smiling and said, “Welcome, Yoko. I have been waiting for you. Then I went to the bathroom and I found a bag full of eggs in front of it. Why were they found in those places? I asked her the reason. She answered like this. “The bag of potatoes asks me when I go out, ‘Have you closed the windows?’ The doll in the basket asks me when I go to bed, ‘Have you turned off the switches of the light?’ And the bag of eggs also asks me when I go out of the bathroom, ‘Have you stopped the water?”” These were the reasons (2) (アwith イof  ウfor) putting these strange things in those places.

My grandmother is 84 years old this year. But she is living alone and can do everything by herself. When she was young, she  had a lot of sad and hard things. Her husband was killed in the war. 長文問題を解き方のコツ

■パラグラフリーディイングをする
パラグラフとは、段落のことです。つまり、段落分けをして読んで、大意をつかんでいこうとする読み方になります。英語の長文を読む上では、これが功を奏します。つまり、段落が変わるということは話題が変わるということです。設問の内容から答えが含まれる段落を見つけ出すことによって、早く確実に答えを見つけることができます。

■注釈と用意された単語の意味を活用
長文の本題の最後には、通常、「注釈」や「注意書き」が容易されています。そこに書かれている単語・熟語をチェックをしてみましょう。これらは答えを導き出すうえで重要な場合が多いので、絶対に確認しておきましょう。

■下線部の問いは、同じ段落から探す
下線部が引かれた問題が出題されたときは、ほとんどの場合、その下線部に対する答えは下線部が含まれる同段落内に答えが書いてあります。問題によって、下線部より前にあるのか、後にあるのかを考えてじっくり日本語訳をしましょう。

■抜き出し問題の対応
抜き出し問題は置き換えて確認しましょう。単語を本文中から抜き出す問題は、自分が抜き出した単語（語）を下線部に置き直して、訳が成立するかを確認しましょう。訳ができない→答えが間違っている。ということです。

■解答の仕方
指示問題など、指示しているものを明らかにする問題では、答えは簡潔にしすぎないように気をつけましょう。特に代名詞には注意！が必要です。答えを書くときに簡潔にまとめすぎると、正解に必要とされるキーワードが含まれずに、なかなか配点分全ての点数を手にすることができません。勝手に省略せずに、正確に訳を書きましょう。

■設問文章の中からヒントがある
例えば、問題で「何を最も気に入っているか。」と聞いてあれば、本文中に「～を最も気に入っている。」と書いてあるはずです。英語に直すと、考えるは英語でlike the best。つまり、本文中からlikeやthe bestを探せば答えが分かるのです。また理由を問われている場合は、本文中の接続詞（so：だからbecause ：なぜなら～なので　等）もヒントになります。
